Health & Well Being

From childhood through to the golden years, for a wide range of health concerns, physio can help.

MATURE HEALTH

We are specialists in the treatment of common mature health concerns, including continence issues, rehab after hip and knee replacements, falls prevention, and management of degenerative conditions such as osteoporosis and arthritis.

WOMEN'S HEALTH

Physiotherapy can help alleviate many of the symptoms and challenges of both PMS and menopause.

We also offer treatment for Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI), and use RTUI Ultrasound technology to help us diagnose and manage this condition.

ANTE & POST NATAL PHYSIO

During pregnancy and after birth, Pilates and at-home physio exercises can help your body in many ways, particularly to maintain your strength, flexibility, muscle tone and posture. Special attention is paid to the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles, to improve back pain and aid recovery after birth. Physio and Pilates can also help improve your sleep patterns, relaxation and breathing control.

ASTHMA

Physiotherapists can help people with asthma by helping them to breathe in a more relaxed way, which can help reduce some symptoms.  We can recommend breathing exercises, advise on physical activity and explain how to manage wheezing and other symptoms.

BREATHING DISORDERS / HYPERVENTILATION SYNDROME

Breathing disorders are more common in our stressed, fast-paced society than you might think, in fact, it is estimated that 10% of New Zealanders breathe in a way that adversely effects their health. Our physios can help you feel calmer and more energised through breath training.

DIABETES

Active management of your diabetes can lower your risk of developing other health problems. Your physio can help you maintain a healthy weight and get you up and exercising with a personal exercise programme designed just for you. Regular physical activity can lower your need for medications, reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke and help manage glucose levels.

CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE

Exercise can help reduce blood pressure, reduce the risk of stroke and diabetes and improve the health of people who already have heart disease.  Our physiotherapists can prescribe you an exercise programme to do at home or the gym, and can advise you on the safest way to exercise.

GENERAL WELLBEING

For many of life’s ailments, an ‘Exercise Prescription’ is your best medicine. An Exercise Prescription is a programme of exercises – designed specifically for you by your physiotherapist - that aims to get you active.  Regular exercise has been proven to optimise health and energy, diminish disease, and reduce stress, anxiety depression. Let us be your cheerleaders! Your Exercise Prescription may include at-home exercises or supported exercise at a gym or pool.
